MOVING WITH THE SPIRIT OF SAHODAYA
Sahodaya means rising together, the very concept of schools getting together for congregation of ideas and thoughts, sharing and caring for each other, which was conceptualized by the CBSE to create a unique school community for a healthy togetherness,aiming towards excellence in education. The Coimbatore chapter has been one of the most active chapters in India since its inception with the over enthusiastic principals getting together in a real sense to bring in innovative ideas and sharing it with the member schools for mutual benefits.
HISTORY OF COIMBATORE SAHODAYA SCHOOLS COMPLEX
Today CbeSSC stands tall with 171 members and loads of laurels, being one of the largest Sahodaya in the nation. Way back, it had a humble beginning with a few member schools.
Dr.T.V.Angappan, the Correspondent of Angappa CBSE School, felt the need of an organization to collectively represent to the CBSE office, New Delhi. Hence he along with other like –minded persons, founded the, “Coimbatore & Salem Districts CBSE Cluster Schools Association” with the following member schools.

- Angappa CBSE Sr. Sec. School, Coimbatore
- Arokiamatha Higher Secondary School – Pollachi
- Lisieux School – Coimbatore
- Viswadeepthi School , Pollachi
- Sri Vidya Mandir, Shivaji Nagar, Salem
- Sri Vidya Mandir Shevapet, Salem
- Vidhya Vikashini School, Coimbatore
- Rukmani Kannan Vidyalaya Sr. Sec. School
- Nehru Vidyalaya , Coimbatore.
- RSK School, Trichy
Dr. T.V. Angappan was the Patron of the Association and Mrs. K. Navamani was the President with the following officer bearers;
- Vice President – Ms. Prasanna Thattil, Principal, Arokia Matha School, Pollachi
- Secretary : Mr. Narayan, Principal Srinivasa Vidyalaya, Udumalpet
- Joint Secretary : Mr. Panchamoorthy,
- Treasurer : Ms. Visalakshi, Principal, Vidya Vikashini School
Since then this Association had been working for the welfare of the Staff and Students of CBSE Schools. Besides conducting workshops and seminars for the Teaching Faculty, the Association did organize ‘Sports Meet’ and games for the students of member schools. The Association represented to the State Govt. and got exemption for CBSE Schools from paying Urban Land Tax levied by State Government. Also, the representation given to the CBSE Chairman for making CBSE students passing with 33% eligible for admission to the State Board schools was successful. The Association also was successful in admission of students up to VIII Std as per State Government Norms.
At this juncture, we gratefully remember the schools that took initiative to organize the sports meet, taking turns among them.
For many years, the Annual Sports Meet was conducted by Sainik School, Amaravathy and later it was conducted by Chinmaya International Residential School (CIRS) and Shree Saraswathi Vidya Mandheer School (SSVM, Mettupalayam).
2013 was the year in which the association was named as, “Coimbatore Sahodaya Schools Complex” with 62 members. Since then CbeSSC started to host the Annual Athletic Meet at Nehru Stadium with pomp and splendour marked by the enthusiastic participation and cooperative support of its member schools.
The achievements of CbeSSC are the result of the combined effort of every individual member school. Hence we heartily thank all the members who have contributed to the growth and success of Coimbatore Sahodaya Schools Complex.

As to the words of Helen Keller, let us move forward together as one, in a renewed spirit of fraternity and solidarity, cooperating generously for the resounding success of our students!
